The UCT Graduate School of Business is proud to partner with the W&RSETA in offering the Advanced Diploma in Management Development for the Wholesale and Retail Sector.
Before you begin your application please note the following
- You will not be allowed to apply should you currently be completing a qualification at another learning institution.
- This step in the application process is for the verification of your documents, and to ensure that your documents comply with W&R SETA and UCT GSB Requirements. Should your documents be successfully verified, you will then receive further communication from the University to complete the UCT Online Application.
- All W&RSETA forms MUST be completed and signed in collaboration with your Nominating Manager. Any applications which do not comply with this requirement will not be considered.
Retail Management Development Programme (RMDP)
The inaugural Wholesale and Retail SETA Retail Management Development Programme (RMDP) was launched in 2012 as a response to addressing skills gaps within the current middle management complement within the Sector and create a pool of skilled middle managers. The Programme equips delegates with prerequisite skills to become effective managers. RMDP graduates will also be able to further their learning with a career path into the ILDP.
The Retail MDP also seeks to create an avenue for retail management development for prospective retail managers. The Sector Skills Plan has identified retail management development as a key requirement which is attributed to the relatively low skills requirement to enter the Sector as many retail managers are developed within the business.
Interested applicants are invited to apply to the Advanced Diploma in Management Development (ADMD) Programme which will be presented by the University of Cape Town: Graduate School of Business (GSB) in collaboration with the W&RSETA.

RMDP: Advanced Diploma in Management Development

During the ADMD participants develop strategic perspective and acumen to navigate diverse business challenges.
Capped with the Strategy and Innovation Lab, participants foster innovation, devise transformative strategies, and lead their organisations towards sustainable growth in today's dynamic global landscape.
This comprehensive programme equips graduates to drive positive change, elevate business performance, and excel as visionary leaders in the ever-evolving business world.
Entrance Requirements:
- NQF 6 qualification
- Proven middle management experience of at least 3 - 5 years
- Recognition of Prior Learning spaces are available. (10%)

How to apply
Please follow the steps outlined below to ensure that you comply with the W&RSETA and UCT GSB application requirements:

This step is purely for you to familiarize yourself with the contract you would be bound to should you be accepted onto the programme. It does not need to be completed at this stage.
- Download the W&RSETA Nomination Form
- Download the W&RSETA Bursary Agreement Form
NB: This step must be completed in collaboration with your Nominating Manager.
- Complete and sign the W&RSETA Nomination Form. All of the relevant sections should be completed in collaboration with your Nominating Manager. Ensure that the form is signed and dated by both yourself and your Nominating Manager.
- Complete and sign the W&RSETA Bursary Agreement Form.
- All of the relevant sections should be completed in collaboration with your Nominating Manager. Ensure that the form is signed and dated by both yourself and your Nominating Manager.
- The completion and submission of this form does not indicate that you have been accepted onto the programme.
