Ms Samantha Van Der Ross

Samantha has been part of the UCT community for over 20 years, dedicating her career to supporting students and ensuring the smooth running of academic programmes. She started as a data-capturer for the Alternative Admissions Research Project before moving to Red Cross Hospital as the administrator for the African Paediatric Fellowship Programme. She then joined UCT GSB as an Admissions and Academic Officer for Customised Academic Learning, which is now Executive Education.

In 2014, Samantha took on a new challenge, managing the undergraduate section of the Department of Economics. In 2020, she returned to the GSB, where she now serves as the Coursework Programme Coordinator for the Master’s in Development Finance. In this role, she ensures that all administrative aspects of the programme – from coursework to student support – are handled smoothly and effectively. Samantha is passionate about helping students thrive, particularly those balancing the demands of work, family, and studies. She understands the challenges they face and works hard to provide support, especially when it comes to managing stress and maintaining mental health.
