What’s Brewing During Lockdown?

The South African craft beer market could be very different post lockdown.

The South African craft beer market could be very different post lockdown.

Since the lockdown began on 27 March, the sale and distribution of alcohol has been prohibited under Disaster Management Act regulations.

Once the liquor ban is lifted in stage 3 lockdown, sale restrictions and the way in which consumers engage with brands could impact the future of the local craft beer market. Small brewery owners need to become innovative in order to retain their customers and remain relevant in the market.

Dr Tim London chats to the co-founders of Jack Black’s Brewing Company, Meghan and Ross McCulloch about the impact of COVID-19 on the craft brewery business.
