The UCT GSB Library
The GSB Library has a small but dedicated team of professional librarians who work closely with the faculty, staff and students of the GSB.
Connecting our users with the most relevant resources available to them within the GSB Library, at UCT Libraries, or in the larger research world:
- Access to a wide range of electronic resources - databases, journal articles and ebooks
- A collection of print books, specialising in the field of business and management
- All past MBA and EMBA research reports
- Past GSB MCom (Development Finance), MPhil (Inclusive Innovation) and PhD dissertations which are available via UCT’s institutional repository, OpenUCT
- Inter-library loan facilities
- Reciprocal agreements with other South African Business School libraries
Supporting the research and information needs of the GSB community through:
- Hands-on training sessions on accessing resources - both electronic and physical
- Reinforcing academic integrity through in-depth sessions on plagiarism and the steps to avoid it
- Encouraging the use of citation managers to facilitate good and accurate referencing techniques
- Being available and accessible to the students, face to face, online through Zoom or MS Teams, via e-mail or telephonically, providing a high level of service regardless of the students' physical location
By being embedded with each programme offered, the Librarians have a high level of understanding for the needs of the students and the requirements of the academic staff which allows their skills and experience to support all academic activity at the GSB.
The physical library (access to books, journals and library space) is available to alumni and interested members of the public who may become subscribers. There are a limited number of open access databases in which alumni might be interested and can be accessed here
