We are thrilled to invite you to an exclusive event featuring Peter Bauer, Founder and Former CEO of Mimecast. This is an incredible opportunity to hear from a leader who has built one of the world’s most successful tech companies from the ground up.
Peter will delve into the unique challenges that founders face when their businesses take off—not the typical hurdles of scaling like hiring or operations, but the personal challenges that arise. How do your values and principles hold up as your company grows from a close-knit group of friends to a large, fast-moving organization? Can the founding principles that guided you early on survive in a company of hundreds?
This promises to be a thought-provoking discussion on maintaining integrity, personal identity, and core values through the scaling journey.
RSVP by 18 November to secure your spot.

I also keep a few shirts ironed as I'm serving on the Mimecast Board as a non-exec, and I volunteer on a handful of Boards in the non-profit space where I am learning a ton from their leadership.
I got here partially by having been a co-founder, who lead Mimecast, our SaaS cyber-security business, as CEO for 21 years. We started as 2 of us in London in 2003 and grew to well over 2000 Mimecasters globally in 2024, and the company serves over 40 000 customers. Along our journey we IPO'ed in late 2015 on Nasdaq. We enjoyed a successful 6.5 years as a public company before returning to private ownership with Permira in 2022 in a transaction that valued the company we'd built together at over $5.6bn. My greatest pride lies in the community we built at Mimecast, a culture, a set of values that we lived by - anchored in a philosophy often referred to as conscious capitalism. We also strived to build a company where people could come to do their best work, their best teamwork, and enjoy their greatest learning. So many wonderful people came and contributed and worked together for our successes, and indeed to overcome our setbacks. In early 2024 I was fortunate to have the opportunity to hand over to our fabulous new CEO, Marc. While I remain closely connected to Mimecast, I get to start some new adventures and contribute in different ways.
I also got here, wanting to make a positive difference in the world, by being inspired and encouraged by a lifetime of seeing the kindness and the fine examples of others around me. I have no delusions that it will be trivial to solve any the major crises that have been created by us humans and our endless pursuit of growth within a too narrow definition of economic good. But I can be part of chipping away at these problems in society, and our natural environment. We can broaden how we think about the way we live and the way we do business.
