Trade Finance

Prof Godfrey Marozva serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business and holds the position of Full Professor in the Department of Finance, Risk Management, and Banking within the School of Economic and Financial Sciences at the University of South Africa (UNISA), a role he has held since 2010. He teaches the course: Trade Finance. Prof Marozva holds a PhD in Finance, an MSc in Banking and Financial Services, and a BCom Honours in Finance and Banking. Additionally, he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter holder issued by the CFA Institute in the United States. His professional experience includes seven years as a Treasury Manager and Fixed Income Portfolio Manager at a publicly traded financial institution.

Dr Nyankomo Marwa is an Associate Professor Digital Transformation, Development Finance and Applied Econometrics at Johannesburg Business School (JBS). Prior to JBS, Prof Marwa was the head of Postgraduate Diploma in Development Finance at the University of Stellenbosch Business School. He teaches the course: Banking and Finance in Emerging Markets. Dr Nyankomo Marwa earned his PhD in Development Finance from the University of Stellenbosch Business School. He attended his Doctoral Course Work in Economics, Econometrics and Public Policy from the University of Nebraska Lincoln (USA) and Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, Canada. In addition he holds Masters’ degree in Agricultural Economics from University of Nebraska Lincoln (USA), Masters’ degree in Applied Statistics and Biostatics from Hasselt University (Belgium) and BSc. Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness from Sokoine University of Agriculture (Tanzania).

Risk Management in DFI

Prof Prince Sarpong is an Associate Professor of Finance at the School of Financial Planning Law, University of the Free State and the Founder and Director of the Centre for Financial Planning Studies. In January 2024, he joined AI2030, an Artificial Intelligence Think Tank based in Washington DC, as an Advisory Board member. He teaches the course: Risk Management and Sustainability of Development Finance Institutions. Prof Sarpong holds a PhD and an MCom in Finance from the University of KwaZulu- Natal, a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning from Nelson Mandela University, and a Bachelor of Education (Psychology) from the University of Cape Coast. Prof Sarpong is a Certified Financial Planner professional, a member of the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa, the Global Association of Applied Behavioural Scientists and a member of the Equity and Inclusion Committee of the Financial Therapy Association in the United States.
